Title:
Delicate Flower: China Head
Artist: Mary Gravelle
Media: Marker on paper, 8 1/2"
x 11"

About this image:
I drew this on June 17, 2002; Day 5 of my personal Igniting session.
Intention statement: My personal integrity guides me to right
action.

Message:
The message of this image seems to be all about trusting the
process of life.
The drawing drew me out line by line. I didn't want to go
where it was leading, but I went anyway. I was thrilled with the
outcome each time.
This drawing reminds me that sometimes life is just like that
if we are truly following our calling and listening to our inner
voice and the voice of God. Listen, follow, and obey by taking
the action that is required even when it makes no sense at all
to us. Sometimes we kick and scream all the way doing what we
know we must.
This drawing was like that. It called to me, I squirmed and
questioned its every motive. I trusted and did anyway.

Journal entry about my drawing
process:
Delicate Flower
Light touch, almost dainty, pinwheel image - wee ….. round and
round we go. The three dots at the ends of the spokes again. I
think it is calling for turquoise and I do not want to put
turquoise on it. I like the image the way it is, thank you very
much! Dainty spiral spinning gracefully through the air.
I guess I'll use the turquoise, against my will. Okay, nice,
still dainty, almost lacey. The curves around the line again,
arms going in different directions, swaying gracefully.
Oh no, it just asked for red. No, that will ruin the
daintiness. And added orange. The red and orange stand out. Not
so dainty anymore and it is okay, beautiful, shining bright, and
yet there is a certain daintiness to the image still.
Oh no, I see Black going around the top and curving down to
the bottom, black crayon or maker? I like the black marker, hate
the blue lines.
I feel a certain "edge" tonight with drawing, being
called and not wanting to answer it and follow through. Each
time I do I am happy with the results. I still feel not
completed and pulled from my stomach. But what does it want now?
(griping and complaining all the way!)
Well, it is more interesting! Has evolved into a head of some
sort with a hat. But, oh no, not done yet. Wants Red, Orange -
chicken, rooster?

The drawing's name is: China Head
Its message for me:
Lighten your load, keep lightening, keep cleaning, just keep
going on your process of cleaning up. Clean up, clear up. Get
rid of everything you no longer need. Everything you do not need
must go - NOW, sooner than later.

I added more to the drawing after
the above message:
Yellow - did some yellow lines, now it wants yellow along the
inside of the skull/head. I do not want to do it. And yet, I
know I have liked the results of previous marks I did not want
to do. So, here I go …. My hand seems guided to a natural stop
around the curves. This has been happening this week with this
intention.

What do you think?
What are your thoughts on this image and/or the writing? What is
the message of China Head to you? Please post
your comments and share a little of yourself with us today.
Thanks.
