2004 VMI Award Winner, Honorable Mention
[The work] is untitled. I kept waiting for a title, but none has come. I have been doing art work, primarily water color and calligraphy, for the past fourteen years as a form of personal expression and prayer. This particular piece emerged from my own deep interior space in April of this year; it continues to speak wordlessly to my heart of compassion and love, gentleness and fidelity, intention and focus.
Right now my goal is to do a larger piece of the same image, completing the circular paths around the feminine image. I have only just begun to absorb all that this piece is waiting to communicate to me.
Artist Bio:
I am a spiritual director in private practice as well as a
writer. My most recent book (co-authored by Susan S. Izard) is
entitled, Knitting into the Mystery: A Guide to the
Shawl-Knitting Ministry (Morehouse Publishing, 2003). This book
was selected as one of the top fifty spiritual books for 2003 by
Spirituality and Health. I have lived in Burlington, CT for the
past twenty-five years with my husband and my now three grown
children.
