Title: Delight
Message: “I take great delight in the manifestation of your soul.” In the summer of 2001, my daughter Gillian took on a new challenge that involved her being away from home for several weeks. “Delight” became the form in which I expressed my gratitude and faith in her “coming into her Self.” You can view “Delight” in person at my current art exhibit, Recognizing the Light, hanging at West Hartford’s First Church of Christ Congregation al (directions are below) until September 3, 2004, which features many of my recent paintings. Nancy McClure Brockett Artist Statement: My work is an Expressionism-style handling of vibrant and intense colors and reflects experiences of inspiration, transformation, and healing. Each work is a prayer in the sense that as I paint I am present to God and receptive to connection with Sacred Presence. My paintings develop in an organic process that often feels like co-creation, and as I continue to interact with a piece, more of its meaning unfolds. In many of my paintings I use watercolor pencils to smooth and move color from watercolor crayons, creating texture painted effect. In others, I use a mix of tempera, oil, and watercolor crayons to produce paintings rich in texture, color, and shape that draw the viewer into interaction. In addition to my larger pieces—varying from 8”x10” to 40”x28”—I create hand-painted cards, using the same techniques and process. I also have museum quality prints of the original art and printed reproductions of the cards. Hartford Center/Park Rd) which is a left-hand exit. **Turn left at the end of the ramp onto Park Rd. Turn right at 2nd light onto South Main.
