Title:
Invocation
Artist:
Mary
Gravelle
Size/Medium:
Oil on Masonite, 16" x 20"
About Invocation:
The yellow and peach figure on
the right is Winged Goddess, a modern day Goddess designed by
the artist. The purple figure, which is being infused into
Winged Goddess, is painted after a famous sculpture called
Winged Victory. In the background is the Goddess, Aphrodite,
painted after a sculpture of her head. The artist loves the red
rocks of Sedona and so has placed the scene of Invocation in
Sedona, Arizona, painted from one of her photographs from a
recent trip.
The idea for this painting is
that of the modern day Goddess invoking the ancient wisdom of
the mythological Goddesses and the wisdom of sacred earth. What
is the message of this painting for you?

About Giclee Prints:
Giclee (jhee-clay) - Derived from the French verb gicler
meaning to spray. A giclee is a high-resolution digital print
and is a recognized fine art print category like lithographs and
serigraphs. Giclee is considered the world's best technique for
reproducing original works of art. Giclee prints look and feel
like original art. Prints are made on archival artist material
such as watercolor papers and canvas. Using Ultra Chrome inks
provides stability. You can expect fade and color-shift
resistance of 90 years under average indoor light conditions.
